Scope and Content Henry de Newburgh to Thomas de Newburgh his brother. Gift. Messuage and curtilage in Winfrod which Robt. de la Stane formerly held, one virgate of land and one acre of meadow which John Harang formerly held in Winfrod. Thomas shall also have 2 heifers, 10 oxen, 6 cows, 300 sheep, 40 hogs, 16 pigs with issue of one year, quit of pannage and herbage everywhere in pasture of Winfrod, and husbote, haybote, furbote and faldbote in the wood of Hamstede. Rent: a pair of gloves worth one penny, or one penny at Easter. Witnesses: Reginald de Lulewrthe, Wm. de Bosco, knights, Thomas Belet, Robt. de Bosco, Robt. de Chalvedone, Andrew de Chalvedon, Wm. Messuage with curtilage which Yvo, the donor's father, once held in manor of Wynfred Neburg and all tenements with meadow which Yvo held in the manor with appurtenances more fully described in a charter of Henry de Newburgh which donor has given to Geoffrey. Writ Cites final concord of 1330 in which Hugh Poyntz of Corymalet (Curry Mallet, Somerset) querent, and Nicholas Poyntz, parson of the Church of the Blessed Mary of Hoo (Kent) and Hugh de Melyplassh, parson of the church of Corymalet, deforciants, agreed concerning the manor of Rocklegh in Wiltshire (held by John Godhyve ? for his life), and the manor of Sutton Poyntz, (held by Roger de Chaundos and wife Matilda as her dowry from said Nicholas). Remainder to Hugh's sons Nicholas, Hugh, Walter, Henry, Thomas. Writ states that Matilda and Hugh Poyntz are now dead, also their son Nicholas, and that certain men called Richd. Neuton, Robt. Caundyssh, Robt. Corf, clerk, Peter Dormun (?), clerk, and Wm. Ketyll now hold the manor. They are to appear at Westminster to state why John Neuburg senior, kin and heir of Nicholas Poyntz, should not have the manor of Sutton Poyntz. |
