Suit for divorce, Robert Layson, Sr., vs Maria C. Layson, filed in Wilkinson Co. Miss., April 1843. States he was married on or about the 9th day of March 1838 to Maria C. Gilbert, then residing in Kentucky. In February 1840 she eloped from the domicile and controle of your orator to the State of Kentucky. -- Notarial Records, west Fel. Parish Vol. K. pgs. 125-7. Children of Issac Layson gave power of Attorney to William Layson to represent them as heirs of Robert Layson, dec'd, for lands in the State of Lousiana. . . Heirs were Zedekiah, Margaret Ann Moon, John Martin Layson, Robert W. Layson, and America Moore. Petition filed in Bourbon Co. Ky., Nov. 8, 1850. -- Not. Rec. as above, Vol. K, pgs 131.2.
